The 4 MAIN FINISHES

Grind and Seal is a cost-effective solution that reveals beautiful stone patterns, sealed with a durable polyurethane topcoat. This provides a water-resistant, low-maintenance surface ideal for both residential and commercial spaces Contact us to learn more about our two systems designed to meet your unique needs.

This process involves polishing the surface of the concrete to achieve a smooth finish without revealing the underlying stone, similar to the floors found at Bunnings and Masters. If this is the desired aesthetic, it’s essential to have a detailed discussion with your concreter to ensure the surface is properly prepared and finished. In this technique, only the surface is polished, and no concrete is removed.
Partial Stone Exposure

This finish is also know as "random"or "salt and pepper" a finish that involves grinding the floor flat to reveal a blend of exposed stone. The level of exposure varies, with some areas showcasing significant stone while others may have minimal or no exposure. The randomness of the pattern is largely influenced by the quality of the initial concrete placement. Typically, 1-3mm of the concrete surface is ground to achieve this look. The overall success of this finish depends on the quality of the original concrete pour.
Full Stone Exposure

The floor is initially ground flat, and then further refined to evenly expose the stone. In some cases, full stone exposure may occur, especially if the concrete was not poured level. To achieve a smooth, even surface, we may need to remove a significant amount of concrete, typically between 5-10mm. It’s important to plan the floor height accordingly to account for this adjustment. a Grind & Seal or Polished Concrete flooring Solution
Polished concrete is a process where the surface of the concrete is mechanically ground and polished to a smooth, shiny finish. This can enhance the natural beauty of the concrete and create a durable, low-maintenance floor.
The timeline depends on the size of the area and the complexity of the finish. Typically, it takes anywhere from 2 to 10 days for a complete polished concrete installation, including preparation and curing time.
The cost can vary based on the condition of the existing concrete, the level of polish desired, and the size of the area. Our systems can cost between $50 to $150 + GST per square meter, but it’s best to get a quote based on your specific project.
Durability: Polished concrete is highly durable, resistant to wear, and can last for many years with proper maintenance.
Low Maintenance: Once polished, the floor is easy to clean and maintain.
Aesthetic Appeal: Polished concrete offers a modern, sleek look that can be customised with different finishes and decorative options.
Cost-Effective: Polishing existing concrete can be more affordable than installing new flooring.
properly installed, sealed, and well-maintained polished concrete floor can last for a century or more, even in the most demanding commercial environments. Its durability and longevity far outstrip that of other flooring options like carpeting, vinyl tile, or wood laminates, which typically require replacement or significant upkeep every 5-10 years. With the right care, polished concrete remains not only functional but visually appealing for decades, making it an investment that provides exceptional value over time.
One of the key benefits of mechanically polished concrete is that once the process is finished, the floor is immediately ready for use, there’s no waiting for coatings or sealants to dry.
This makes it a highly efficient option for spaces that require minimal downtime. However, to ensure the longevity and integrity of the finish, it’s important to avoid leaving water on the floor or cleaning the surface with water for 24 to 72 hours after installation. During this time, the surface needs to fully cure to ensure optimal hardness and durability. However as we offer different solutions please contact us to find out tyhe exact time based on the system you wanr to install.
Yes, in many cases, existing concrete can be polished. However, the quality of the concrete beneath the surface will affect the final finish. We will assess the concrete and can eve do a sample on the floor to asses the best solution for your existing floor.
Polished concrete floors are low maintenance but do require occasional cleaning with a soft cloth or mop and a pH-neutral cleaner. Regular sealing and polishing may also be needed to keep the shine intact.
Polished concrete can be slippery when wet, but this can be mitigated by adding a non-slip additive during the polishing process or using a more aggressive polish that leaves some texture on the surface. Please speak to us about the anti - slip equirement and we will suggest the best solution based on your needs.
Grind and Seal: The surface is ground smooth and then sealed with a protective coating. This provides either a satin finish, with the stone exposure varying depending on the hardness of the concrete slab. Polished Concrete: The concrete is ground to a higher level of refinement, often revealing the natural aggregate, and is finished with a densifier and polish for a high-gloss surface.
